What ages are your chinchilla's?
Its been a while since I had my chinchillas, but even my vet was supprised at the age they got too! The male lived till he was 18yrs old and the female was 17!
They had a huge 6ft cage with lots of shelving, but nothing overly special. Breed regular as clockwork tho! lol What ages are your chinchilla's?

my youngest is about 4 and my oldest is about 15
17 and 18 isnt at all uncommon for nillas. the oldest on record was 27 grace lilly, you need to change your chinchillas cage, sorry to say but it isnt suitable, chins shouldnt have ANY plastic in their cage if they chew it it can kill them, and yours have really been chewing that! they will probably already have a plastic build up in their guts. that cage also isnt wide enough, chins are rock hoppers not climbers, and floor space is much more important then height

Well they did alright getting to 18 lol And the cage was 4.5ft wide and they were in the lounge boucing around most of the time I was at home with them, the cat really could not work out why couldnt jump like them hehe
