Exclamation Dottys Poorly Tail !!!

I came home yesterday from a week at the (sort of) mother in laws, i went to say hello to the chinnies and then went to sit down. I kept looking at Dottys tail thinking it looked odd so i went over and noticed she had a bald patch on near the tip of her tail, then i noticed there was a bit of dried blood and a scabbed up cut. My mom (who looks after the chinnies) said she didnt notice and isnt sure how it got there, so i made sure how it looked and it looked ok and Dotty is acting like normal, her eating and drinking and pooping is her usual self.

To me after a close up, it looks as if she has snagged her tail somewhere and pulled, the thing is i cant find this chunk of fur or any blood in the cage so its a mystery to me.

I also just had another check though and there does seem to be a little bump on the bald spot, not around the cut and it looks more like a bruise.

So im just wondering what you would do, at the moment im not sure about getting her to the vets because although there is a little cut and bump it seems to be looking good. I would also like to know if you would put cream on a cut and if so what would help.

Thanks for any help you can share with me, heres some pictures of her tail although they may not be that clear as they were taken on my mobile

Re: Dottys Poorly Tail !!!

i would just keep an eye on it and let it heal on its own, if it looks to get infected or to get worse then a vet visit is in order, but at this moment in time i dont think it warents one

you can pop green cream on it to help speed up the healing

Re: Dottys Poorly Tail !!!

Shes doing well thank you She has a scab on her tail but it all looks pretty clean, now i just keep looking at it and thinking i hope this fur grows back Dotty is not bothered by it at all and i keep catching Lola grabbing her tail, inspecting it and then dropping it and then giving me and Dotty disgusted looks as if to say look at what we did haha.

I still have no real idea as how shes done it but as long as shes ok thats all that matters to me

Re: Dottys Poorly Tail !!!

I didnt actually get any yet, me and my bf had a look at her tail and it seemed to be healing great so we thought better to leave her alone than just annoy her But i am planning on getting some when we get paid next and that way if anything happens again i have some on hand

I do like how its natural and not going to cause issues with them cleaning and i wanted to ask do you need to put alot on or just a little bit on the area ??

I will try and get another picture of her tail tomorrow to show how well its healing, i just want her fur to grow back lol shes supposed to have a chinchilla tail not a rat tail !! My lovely little ninja chinchillas
