We changed around and added some new shelves in the chinnies cage tonight, over that past hour i have been watching them play around in the new set up when Dotty got a little over confident. Dotty caught her toy when jumping, knocked the toy off the hook which dislodged the hammock and she ended up having quite a bit of a fall to the bottom of the cage.

Now im in a panic because she doesnt seem to be using the right front leg much, at first she was only lifting it up but she does put a little weight on it but no where near as much as the other one.

My bf is saying she seems fine and to just keep a watch on her but im debating about the emergency vets as its now 1am and im not sure whether i should wait to see how she is in the morning. Im just worrying a lot and just want to hear you advice.

i would keep an eye on her, and if it gets any worse take her to the emergancy vets, if its still not right in the morning take her to the vets.

she would have sprained it or broken it, which will need painkiller at the least, or she could just have knocked it, which will get better in a few hours

Thank you, im keeping a very close eye on her. It was quite a hard fall but she usually falls or slips a lot anyway, shes a very clumsy chinchilla but this fall scared me when i saw her not putting weight on her foot. Her ears went a dark pink and she looked a little hot, ive put a fan on and shes sleeping close to the breeze and her ears have gone back to normal. Shes also using her foot a little more and has eaten some food, she seems to be resting now so hopefully she will be okay.

I also checked her foot and i couldnt see any swelling, she also rubbed her nose with mine while i had a look So cute.....I guess she knows im making sure shes okay.

When our millie broke her leg there was no noticeable swelling, just a general recuctance to put weight on it
Just keep an eye on her, she dosent sound in too much pain to me, if shes still sore on it in the morning its worth a vet visit

She seems to be doing fine, my bf thinks maybe Dotty just rattled her leg a little. Shes using her leg a lot more today and is grooming herself with it, plus shes been sleeping all stretched out on her side and just seems her happy and comfortable self

They really do scare me sometimes lol, first Lola chokes on her food a couple of months ago and then Dotty falls. I think they do it on purpose to get extra playtime the next night !!! lol

hahaha wouldnt surprise me, millie regularly gives us a heart attack! shes a dab hand at playing dead!!

Haha got to love the pets lol, i keep going over just to check her over...but i dont think shes too happy with me doing this because im getting some filthy looks haha
