Chinchilla Holiday care needed

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to go away to New Zealand for 3 months (definately coming back) and have 2 chinchillas that may need some where to go for that time. I have a friend lined up to take them but I'm worried it might not happen. I want a back up plan. Does anyone know of anyone who might look after them for 3 months (in Sussex area) for a fee and be sure to give them up when i return, as they are very adorable.

Re: Chinchilla Holiday care needed

3 months is a long time to leave them in some one elses care, what if they get sick? which could cost hundreds in vet fees, are you leaving a vet fund behind too? or would you be expecting someone who is "just looking after them" to pay out for these bills?

is it fair on the chins to move them, then just as they are settling to take them back?
is it fair on the people who would be looking after them, leaving them with some one for 3 months they WILL get attached, and the chins will bond with them too.

I would offer to look after them as I already have 2 and so know how to care for them and nearly out of uni so even if they are adorable I'd know not to get too attached as I don't know my own circumstances next year. But I am in Telford for the summer and then Lancaster in October.
Good luck finding someone.
