Re: advice and info help pls :)

can you advice me on which books to read? sorry i don't know of any, the best place to learn are online forums

what is the best cage for them? the biggest you can afford, with no plastic at all, solid floors are also much better thn wire floors, wire floors can hurt their feet, and are really only needed if your showing, to help keep fur clean

the idea temp to keep them in? the cooler the better, they are from a cool climate and can easily over heat ad drop dead in as low as 20 C

are they solitary or best in pairs? deffintly best i pairs, they are highly social

how easy are they to keep? fairly easy, ut can be tricky to handle, they are very fast and bouncy and they are very delicate ad easily damaged if you handle them too roughly or hold them too tight

how much do they cost to keep? im not sure sorry, i have too many fluffs to work out individual costs, their vet bills can be really high thou, we had one in yesterday and a 200 vet bill

and any other advice that you think i might need before i make my desision.
tey are not a pet to be taken lightly, the can live for 20+ years with the right care, and need lots of out of handling and floor time
the are also very very destructive, and will chew anything they can, and they are also very very messy, thy will often fling poo out their cage, so you need to clean that area regularly

Please do not just get one chinchilla - they are social animals and should be kept in pairs or groups.

These are two of the best sites on the web for chinchilla information
Cheeky Chinchillas
Chinchilla Quest sharing/learning by experience
You can get loads of information from these two sites they also have links to chinchilla forums.

This is a great site for cages and accessories:
John Hopewell (Marketing) Rotherham South Yorkshire, Chinchilla Cages - Degu Cage - Degus Exercise Wheels - Cages - Animal Cages - Rat Cage - Ezi-Filla - Ezi - Easy - Automatic Water Drinking Systems - Guinea Pig Runs - Rabbit Feed Hoppers - Birds -

There are loads of chinchillas in rescue - take a look here
R & J Chinchilla Rescue and Re-homing Centre
