Red face New Chins

Hello!
Wondered if anyone could give me some advise, iv recently brought two chinchillas and wondered what food to give them for treats?
Can they eat human food? if so what kind?
Im oblivious to what they like, they are very shy so i think a nice treat would hopefully 'tame' them abit, the man we brought them off said they hadnt had attention for awhile so i assume this process will take time?
They are a mating pair and the males very protective! maybe the females in session?
Sorry for the million questions

Thanks

Re: New Chins

Chinchillas have sensitive stomachs and should only be given chinchilla pellets and hay. Treats should be given sparingly.

Unless you have a pedigree/history of both animals it is risky breeding from them, as chinchillas are prone to tooth problems which is inheritable.

These are great sites for advice about chinchillas
