Hey all
For the past few days my chinchilla Gir hasn't been himself, really off with his brother (and best friend named Zim) and really tired and off his food. Last night he started coughing so this morning off to the vet we went.
He has an upper respitory infection which the vet says we caught early so he should be fine, he's on antibiotics for a month with instructions if he is no better by the weekend to go back.
He has had one dose of medication and is already a lot better. Snuggles up with Zim and merrily chewing anything he can fit in his mouth.
The vet advised the antibiotics can be mixed with fruit juice to make it go down easier so were grabbing some prune juice (it's a rare xmas treat but they love prunes), we were just wondering if anyone had any other tips on helping him get better or just making him more comfortable.
This is the first time either of them have been sick, they're approx. 5 years old (rescues so cannot be exact) and are both a good weight (Zim was weighed this morning and came in at 756g).
Any advise would be much appreciated and I apologise for any spelling mistakes, typing on a tiny phone keypad on my way into work
Thanks for reading guys!
