Showing Maine Coon and can I trim his bottom!

Hi all
My next two shows are coming up in MArch and I was wodnering if any of the coonie owners that show their cats can give me some advice on trimming his bottom?

Ollie always seem to manage to have little spots of poo attached to his back end and someone has suggested that I just trim around his bum whcih would solve the problem but would it loose me marks at the shows?

I'm just thinking of a little bit and it would be so much better for him anyway as he doesn't like the fact that I am constantly follpwing him around checking his bum and then pouncing when I spot something!!!

It's just not practical to keep washing his back end either as he normally ends up wet all over.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Allison

I'm sorry, no advice as far as the trimming/showing goes...

Does he have a bad tum? We had trouble with Enzo's back end when he had a bad tum... but now that he has solid poos - no problems.

If he has poo attached then there may be little choice for you?

His "pantaloons" should be left where possible; the bigger the better, really. But if you have to then perhaps try to remove as little as possible. See what you get away with.

Just to quote the SOP:

Quote:
Waterproof and virtually self-maintaining, consisting of an undercoat covered by a more substantial glossy topcoat. Fur shorter on the head, neck and shoulders increasing in length down the back, flanks and tail. A fluffy appearance is undesirable.

Breeches and belly fur full and shaggy. Frontal ruff beginning at the base of the ears; heavier in males than females. Tail fur long, profuse and flowing; not bushy. Ears feathered and preferably tufted at the tips; the ear feathering should extend beyond the outer edges of the ear. Paws tufted, with long tufts emanating from under the paws, extending backwards to create a snowshoe effect.

HI no bad tum, he did have one soem months ago when I started changing their food and gosh that was an awful mess!! lol

Now poos are normal but he is just so fluffy at the back end and has long breech's (think thats what you call them on the back of his hind legs!). It's little bits and bits of cat litter that just keep getting stuck in his fur.
