Dirty paws

Hi
I have a 8 month Maine Coon who is going to his first GCCF show tomorrow (how exciting) The thing is that he is allowed outdoors but since we bathed him on Weds we have kept him in. He coat looks lovely but his paws look quite dirty. I have been rubbing them with a flannel but I think the dirt is engrained. Will he get marked down for this? Is there anything else I could try? Also, how much points are given for how well groomed he is as opposed to how he matches his breed standard? Thanks ever so muchin advance...

Hi,

Grooming is really important for any cat going to a show. I would wash his feet maybe with a bowl of water with bit of washing up liquid or cat shampoo in it. Make sure they are rinsed properly and I know its short notice but do you have any grooming powder or better still cornflour in? Cornflour works really well on paw pads.If you have a blusher brush you just apply it with that, leave it on for a while then brush the feet, make sure there is no residue from the powder.

He could be a perfect specimen that totally fits the breed standard but most judges will mark a cat down if its not groomed properly and it would be sad to lose out like that, especially when you know you have already taken the time and effort to do the show bath.

Hope it goes well for you. Let us know how you get on!!

Izzie
