size of cat carriers

I bought a massive wire top opening cat carrier! Now it is rather large, big enough for an adult male maine coon I got it so my cat was comfy travelling to and from shows and to also take him into shows too. But I am wondering now, is it too big? They don't stipulate you have to have a certain sized carrier do they? Was hoping to use it at the supreme as I know it will be very easy to get my cat out of the carrier this way.

What do ya think?

Re: size of cat carriers

Yes, mine will travel together but after the show it has to be seperate carrier. My young Rafa turns into a hissing monster if he sees his housemate! So does Candi!

When I bought Caesar and Candi home from the show a few weeks back Rafa hissed and spat at them for a good 48hrs... Silly boy rolleyes:

Re: size of cat carriers

If we are travelling to a show thats a couple of hours drive for us then we usually put the cat into a pen ( like the show type) in the back of the car , which is large enough to keep a litter tray etc in there, once we get to a show we then transfer him into one of the standard pet carriers.

Yea, if we are travelling several hours, we have a Sturdi shelter in the back of the car, with everything in they need....spoilt or what, lol.

Re: size of cat carriers

I too have a large crate for the tray and bed if on long journeys. However I have decided I am only going to be showing at shows under 50 miles from my house.
