Mentor Needed

Hi all

Ive just bought myself a new Siamese boy and wanted to giving showing a try. Ive never done this before so am a complete novice. Is there any kind person out there who lives in my area (Lancashire) that would take me under their wing and show me the ropes?

Re: Mentor Needed

What a shame you don't live nearer we would have gladly helped you, but I'm afraid we live near Stonehenge a bit too far away.
It's not that hard though, my teenagers just use cat shows as an excuse to go 'shopping'
My advice jump in and try it, make sure you chat to people with cages either side of you, compliment people on their cats it soon gets them talking
If you need advice on what to take etc just ask

Re: Mentor Needed

Be happy to after this weekend, don't show Siamese but the principles are the same. PM me but initially if you can get to a show to visit you can get the feel for it. There is a purely non-pedigree show (but run along GCCF lines) on in Bamber Bridge near Preston on Saturday, a championship one up in Cumbria then one in Doncaster at the end of the month but nothing more local til next year. Entries for these have closed but you could visist on the day.

Assuming he is registered GCCF that is, if it's TICA then there are a different set of shows and rules.

Re: Mentor Needed

Did the breeder indicate he was "show" quality and do they know you would like to show him? If you are not sure it would be worth having a word with his breeder. If the breeder doesn't think he is quite "show" quality you could enter him in the pedigree pet section instead.

Re: Mentor Needed

Yeah the breeder is aware that I would like to try a little bit of showing, and thinks he should do well.

Ive never showed a cat in my life.... horses yes cats no! so am finding it a bit daunting.

Im just waiting for my registration papers back then will be looking around for some shows to try
