Bathroom incident

Today the kittens had their first proper "naughty" incident.

When we're out the boys have the run of the lounge, hallway and bedroom. We close the doors to the kitchen and bathroom.

Jones (being too smart for his own good) has worked out how to push the bathroom door open. The door is pretty crap - it pushes closed but doesn't fully click shut. Jones now understands that all he has to do is jump up and lean on it to push it open.

Today I got home to find the bathroom in a state. Massive pooh in the bath (all trodden in and dried on), towel pulled onto the floor and weed on. Toilet brush thing knocked over, spilling the dregs of nasty toilet water over the floor....

Any suggestions?

Obviously I can't do anything unless I catch them in the act - which is highly unlikely. Nor can I shut the door, as they just barge it open.

The annoying thing is they were perfectly litter trained. One accident on about day 3, but other than that they use the litter tray religiously. I'm hoping this doesn't indicate they might start messing in other places too...

Any help appreciated, otherwise feel free to have a laugh at my expense. It is kind of funny really... so long as it doesn't keep happening!

Re: Bathroom incident

Get one of those hook things at the top of the door if it can't be fixed!

Honestly my two boys never bothered with the bathroom until about a month ago and now....well

Ollie loves getting in the loo and flicking water from it all over the place.

They knock everything off the shelves/cupboards/window sill.

Steal the toothbrushes and chew them on the landing.
And last but not least get in the sink and pull out the plug thing!

I now have to make sure it is very firmly shut at all times and if we forget within 5 mons their in there doing their mischeif.

Re: Bathroom incident

All I can suggest is putting stuff out of reach if possible and maybe leaving an inch or two of water in the bottom of the bath so they won't poo in it.

Re: Bathroom incident

Can you not fix the door? we have to shut ours ALL the time, even when we're in, as the cats shred the toilet rolls!

Re: Bathroom incident

We had a similar incident a few weeks ago - our two have used the litter tray with not a single problem for months, then suddenly, one did a HUGE poop in the bath. No explanation, and no repeat since (fingers crossed). I wonder if they got a bit over excited in their bathroom destruction!

You might want to think about putting a cheap lock on the outside of the door? Just one of those bar/latch things you can buy from a DIY shop should do it. Best of luck!

Re: Bathroom incident

fold some paper and wedge the door shut - sounds like they thought the bath was a giant litter tray
