Walking cats
One other thing i wanted to ask. I saw some where that some people walk their cats - I think this is a great idea and my kitten would probably love it but is 3 months to early to start walking her? she has so much energy especially in the evening that i think if i walk her in the evening she'll let me go to sleep at a normal hour!

Re: Walking cats
she is a housecat and because we live in an apt. theres no garden or porch for her to wander out to. we've had to make do with her climbing out of the window (thers bars but if she slips or loses her balance she can fall thru.) I think it can go either way - she might release alot of energy and hopefully calm down for the night or it will get her even more excited (i'm afraid if i start it will become routine and because i end work pretty late some days i dont want her to get too used to the idea)

Re: Walking cats
Ahhh yeah know what you mean. I'd do it intermittently that way she doesn't get a routine built up, it's quite good if you finish at different times then that way she doesn't get used to a time, but I wouldn't make it a nightly thing as again she'll come to expect it. I do the same with ours they never know when they're going to get a treat out, but I have to be careful as Dexter started getting into the habit of zooming out of the front door whenever it was opened so I always take him out the back door and make a lot of loud noise when I come in the front that way he knows the front door is not a good place to go out, but the back is where he can go when his harness comes out. Phew sorry bit of a marathon text.
![]() Keep it very now and again that way she gets the best of both worlds without building up her expectations. |
