My cat Kipper goes to bed when I do and sleeps in a basket with his brother Pilchard in our bedroom. The problem is he will get up anywhere between 2.30am and 4.00am. It will start with him using his scratching post as loudly as he can then he will attack the wardrobe(?) scratching it with his claws retracted, so he's not causing damage, just making alot of noise! He has access to food, litter tray etc (he is a house cat). We have tried ignoring him, shutting him out the room - this resulted in shredded carpet and sofa damage. Has anyone got any ideas on how to solve this nocturnal problem?

I have no idea - most of this is just part and parcel of having cats - eventually we started sleeping through it and I think then they got bored and settled down. If we tried shutting our cats out they'd yell their heads off so I know that is rubbish advice.
