Aggressive cat questionnaire

Hi, I'm hoping someone here might be willing to help me. I'm a student veterinary nurse and writing an essay on aggression in cats, with a deadline to meet I have to do some research for this and unfortunately, my practice won't allow me to ask clients questions for it. I've written a short questionnaire and I would be very grateful if people could take the time to fill it in. It wouldn't take very long. It can be used for cats you have now or in the past.

It's in Word format and only a page and a half of short questions - with only one that needs a more detailed answer. Needless to say, confidentiality is respected and all I will use the information for is drawing graphs and maybe giving as an example - as in " a 4 yr old female cat would jump and attack her owners legs".

I've set up a Yahoo ID for this, if you email me at aggressivecats@yahoo.co.uk, then I can email you the questionnaire.

Thank you very much in advance

Re: Aggressive cat questionnaire

I don't mind helping you to form your graphs. I shall send you an email.

It would be nice, once you have done your essay, if you could share some of the finding with us on here.

best purrs

Re: Aggressive cat questionnaire

Thanks for the emails and best wishes. I've just sent off one lot of emails. Some people are saying which ID and site they are and some aren't - so I'm not sure if some respondents I've emailed or not.

Once this essay is finished, I can post something general - confidentality must be respected - but I'm finding it interesting already that aggression is more of a problem. It is oneof my adopted cats that shows aggression but the RSPCA say he was given up for rehoming because he sprayed. He hasn't sprayed in the 3 years we've had him but biting, yes!

If you haven't got Word or one of its clones, I can copy and paste the questionnaire and send it in an email that way.

Thanks again to all those who have emailed me.

Re: Aggressive cat questionnaire

Interesting. I adopted a returned kitten who was returned for agressive behaviour (biting) even though the buyers were made aware of the behaviour and given the solution to train the kitten out of it.

He stayed with the breeder for 18 months and I have adopted him at just over 2 years. He bit the first day we had him but as we both got used to each other he hasn't bitten deliberately since.

However he sometimes forgets that hands are not toys, but we have learnt to recognise the behavioural signs and remove hands and say 'no'.

Re: Aggressive cat questionnaire

hi Janee - sounds like your furchild is just exhibiting over-exuberant play rather than actual aggression ...
