Spraying but no smell

I have a stray cat that keeps coming to my garden for food, well the cat has started spraying, mostly up the rubbish bin, but there is no smell attatched, I have checked and he/she is definately spraying as the area is wet after, but I thought that when cats spray it always smells.
Is it possible to spray but not leave a scent behind?

Re: Spraying but no smell

I may be wrong but i think that means the cat has been castrated or spayed. My moms male and female cats spray but they have all be done and none of them produce a smell

Re: Spraying but no smell

When our neuters spray, it also smells, although not as strongly as our stud boy. When our female entires spray, it actually has very little odour.

Re: Spraying but no smell

It is very odd, but maybe I just cant smell it although I am usually quite good with smells, maybe it is female and catrated too.

My other problem is now my cat is searching every where for this stray, my cat never used to venture far at all but since the stray arrived she has taken to climbing the fences looking for it, when the stray is in the garden they are calling each other and rubbing noses and following each other around.

My cat is spayed so I cant work it out, at first I thought maybe the stray was in heat which was why it had turned up.
