Re: New kitten biting

I play with my kittens with my hands quite a lot - bless em they automatically retract their claws when they do that, and we only ever get accidental scratches when we're playing with feathers or similar!
I think they've only bitten my fingers when I've been preparing food and haven't washed them yet - ie: if they're buttery or otherwise tasty!
If they did that I might try washing my hands in a vinegary solution - hypothesis being that the smell isn't so appealing...
Some cats are a bit bitey - my friend's cat will sometimes bite your fingers when you're stroking him but he's still totally friendly as well, and nudges you for more cuddles.

Re: New kitten biting

Aw how is it that they can be so cute even when they are biting and scratching?! I have been playing with her with my hands (oops!). I have made more of an effort withe the feather on a stick type type toys and it seems to be working! Also stopped wearing my charm bracelet around her which just attracted her teeth! Really she is lovely- its funny how used to her i have become and its only been just over a week! Thanx everyone!

Re: New kitten biting

Its not aggressive behaviour, she is just playing with you the way she would her litter mates. They jump on each other, bite and kick with their back legs etc - it looks really rough, but it isn't to another kitten, but baby teeth and nails are very painful to us. When she does it, if it hurts cry out, in the way her siblings would if she got too rough. She will soon learn the limits. They do grow out of these sorts of things.
