Devil Cat
Hiya
I am posting this on behalf of a friend who needs some help with her kitten, so here is the story so far. She has a ginger male kitten approx 14 wks old and he is a nightmare, he bites and scratches all of the time. I know kittens can bite but he does it with intent and doesn't stop at all. I refuse to go around their house anymore as he just attacks as soon as you go through the door and he doesn't stop. They have tried everything, toys to entertain him, saying NO, tapping his nose, ignoring him, water spray. But he still attacks. Is there anything they can do? I have two kittens myself and neither of them behave like this and so I am shocked at his behaviour. Help!

Re: Devil Cat
Is he neutered at all? That could be the problem.
I know some male animals who aren't neutered have a tendency to get territorial and once they are neutered they calm down. So maybe that might help? But I'd also seek behavioural specialist like Summer said. |

Re: Devil Cat
I agree that he probably needs neutering. Adolescent hormones can kick in pretty young in some cats. My boy's a sweetie at the moment but I'm definitely getting him done ASAP because I want him to stay that way!

Re: Devil Cat
At only 14 weeks he surely won't be adolescent yet!
People won't like this advice but - if he is going to be allowed out eventually - let him out. That way he can run around and use up all that energy that at the moment is going into being a monster. I sold a Burmese kitten once that was just like this, letting him out into the garden solved the problem instantly. I know people will think this is terribly young to be letting him out, but the alternative in this case could be dumping him on a rescue where the same thing will happen as soon as he is rehomed. Re: Devil Cat
Letting him out isn't such a bad idea, but keeping him in the garden could be a big problem. He should grow out of it and neutering will also help.
My only advice for this is to clip his claws. If your friend is in anyway inexperienced at this take him to the vet. If you don't know what your doing you could cause him alot of pain. Also, if you decide to do this and he's as bad as you say, then make sure you put on a big jumper and gloves, this will also involve 2 or more people to hold him. I have to do this with my parents cat Frodo and he hates it. My own cat Simba (in contrast) sits happily on the floor and my partner can clip her claws without issue. Once you know what your doing try to get it done as quickly as you can, but making sure not to hurt him. Aleast him attacking people won't hurt so much and he won't be able to climb stuff, thus saving the furniture. Hope this helps.
