I jump on your head!

I recently took on a second kitten, a 14 week old little boy kitten called Jasper who is as friendly and bouncy a bundle of kitten as you could imagine. Lily, my original kitten, is now 5 months and after some initial growling they are now largely getting on. There's one thing - he likes to jump on her head. She'll be chilling out dozing and he'll launch at her, jumping up and down on her and biting her feet. They'll have a little scuffle that seems mostly good natured, no howling or screaming, then he'll scamper off and do it again 5 minutes later.

Since he arrived Lily has become a bit more reserved, not as cuddly and affectionate as she was before he got here, and I do wonder if being constantly jumped on is getting her down. Is there any way I can discourage him from harassing her quite as much?

Re: I jump on your head!

Maybe you could get another kitten for him to jump on...?

Sorry hehe I always say get another kitten

I found this
Quote:
Young males (3-24 months) have an especially strong need for a "buddy". While owners of rambunctious young males often hesitate to take on another cat, those who take that "leap of faith" and get another young male are generally delighted to see how much the "boys" enjoy each other.

Maybe Lily isn't so depressed though.. you say that they get on ok and the scraps are mostly goodnatured.. maybe she's just growing up and calming down a bit while in comparison he's being a little monster? Aw * we watch our babies so closely though don't we, and if she really has changed you're going to know the difference.

Ours are 6 months now and seem really chilled now for ages and just have their monster moments.

Simba9952 is on a distinguished road
Re: I jump on your head!

They are adjusting to each other, nothing to worry about. Give them equal treatment and make sure it's just play fights (no squeals or shouts) and video it all
Trust me, some of the 'fights' or stalking will be hilarious
