Could this work?

Well I guess it depends on the cats but I wonder what others might think. I live in a spacious one bedroom flat that overlooks green fields. At the moment I don't have a cat flap but now I have 8 babys, there will be a cat flap in the future.

Now my thing is this..

I only have room for 4 litter trays, one in the bedroom, one at the top of the stairs, one at the bottom of the stairs and one under the sink in the bath room. I don't want a tray in the kitchen for hygene reasons plus I don't really want one in my living room.

I know the golden rule is 1 tray per cat plus 1 extra but I don't have the room for 9 trays !!

I keep the trays as clean as possible plus they would be able to go outside.

I am seriously considering keeping my 4 kitties who I am sorta fostering but could the litter tray problem mean it wouldn't quite work out..? I hope not I'd like to hear opinions on this !!

Re: Could this work?

I reckon if they are going to have access to outdoors as well, then 4 trays is fine. Until then, is it at all possible to double up on trays in some of the locations you already have them?

Re: Could this work?

I think that sounds like a good compromise. Until they are big enough, injected, microchipped, neutered/spayed and the cat flaps fitted I'll do that. Ooh what a carry on. It'll be worth it tho!!

Oh the amount of vet visits!! Eek and cat litter !!

Re: Could this work?

My parents have adapted a kind of large rubber bucket from B & Q (or somewhere) cut an opening on one side and have three cats of differing ages happily using it when their not able to go outside, so I think you'll be ok. Keeping it relatively clean is the key.
