7 month old moggy - hits his head a lot!

Hi all,

New to the forum and I hope you can help!

I have a 7 month old moggy, Archie, and he's wonderful. A very character filled little boy. Neutered last month. He's now starting to eat more and sleep more, and he was getting quite aggressive but this has died down.

However, I have been getting worried that he keeps banging his head into things. I've had him checked at the vets so many times since first getting him and they've never mentioned a problem with his eyes. His whiskers are all there fully grown. He'll do things like: I'm making a cuppa in the kitchen (he tends to follow me around - house cat, can't go outside) and he'll start chasing his tail, he whizzes around until he hits something with his head. Then stops.

He watches me as if he's going to pounce (baby hunting games) in the morning and then if I say "Boo!" or whatever he'll turn to run away and just go slamming into the wall, then around it and out the door to the next room.

He comes straight back and never seems fussed but my lord it makes a loud bang.

Is this just all normal kitten's being over-excited type of behaviour?

Thanks for any advice! x

Re: 7 month old moggy - hits his head a lot!

Some times when my Nef gets "the crazies" she will have a mad ten minutes where she just flies around the room. She crashes into the door, bangs into the sofa and bounces off the sofa along the windowsill and round into the kitchen where she tears down the hall way. Her crashing into things seems to me that she can't stop herself before she hits the door but it doesn't seem to bother her. Some times she stops and stares at the door how come that door hit me? I was here first? Kind of puzzled way. It does worrie me a little but her crazies don't last long. I'd put it down to feline hormones . Nefertiti was born in March this year so shes about the same age. I think she'll eventually realize tho that the door was there first and if you charge into it you get a nasty smack.

Glad you've had him checked at the vets for his eyes.

IMO I think hes ok. Just hope I havn't missed anything, no doubt others will have other advice tho

*AnD* His running away from you sounds like he is playing. He most likely sees you looking at him and speaking to him as an invitation to play so he goes haring off at speed. Cats love to play chase with each other and hes probably going so fast that he doesn't think abotu the door just playing chase with you! Some times when I look at Nefertiti and say some thing "Hello Madam" she'll meow at me and then go haring off through the door and down the hall. ^_^

*AnD* Now I have Tiramisu it's even worse when I've got two having the crazies together !! lol Oh and they some times crash into me and then stop and stare at me in disgust. What are you doing there human? LOL Oh how i love felines
