We have had our cat since he was 12 weeks old (he is no 4.5) and literally from the 1st time he was safe to go outside he has prefered to do his business in the garden, so we stopped using the litter tray.

However, we moved house yesterday and because he will have to stay inside until he is settled into our new place we bought him a litter tray. We have now been here for 24 hours and he is yet to toilet anywhere, the tray is unused but can't find any little 'presents' anywhere else either! He has been eating only a fraction of what he ususally eats but surely he would need to go by now???

Is it possible that he is trying to 'hold it' because he has forgotten what a litter tray is for? Do any of you have some advice on how to re-acquaint him with the tray?
