Re: Kitty is beating us up!

Got a leaflet on cat training (lol)

It says that if cat/kitten starts eating your hand they are seeing it as prey and you should stop immediately and keep your hands distanced from the cat by using a dangly toy or kitten glove with exteded fingers.

Very practical advice Amy - this was what I told one of my kitten families when they rang to enquire how to stop the only kitten of mine that ever was this boisterous. They stuck to it and it did work. As you say, it is something that diminishes with the age of the kitten and they do not intend to hurt you so when you cry out (do it loud enough to shock them a bit and get the message home but don't blast their little ears off - LOL) they are taking in the message that you have stopped enjoying this and its no longer a fun game for you. Kittens love to have you playing and if they need to humour you by being gentle with you then the kitten will learn how far to go.
