she will get used to you in her own time, just takes some longer than others to settle, just try encurenging her with little treats in ur hands, do it with both as if she see`s the other one going to you, she may start to do it as well,

Re: Why is she so frightened

Yep. When we got our first kitten, although she was a bit older, she was as scared as can be... she hid under our sofa for 3 days

I just carried on as normal, TV on etc, no massive loud noises or anything, but life as normal, while I encouraged her to come out with treats and toys. It took a few weeks, but she now owns the place .

Patience and hard work are the key

You could also try some interactive play with the one thats not so scared, where she can see her enjoying herself. Wait until the house is quiet and theres just you and use a rod toy to play with the brave kitten. Babies can not resist playing. She may not come out immediately, but it will grab her attention. When she does come out, carry on playing wiggling the toy near her occasionally, but don't look at her or speak to her. She will come round eventually. Like Mattyh said patience is the key

Re: Why is she so frightened

Sofas must be a favourite place for kittens, all of ours have hidden under there at some point!

Guess it's because it's dark and enclosed, the cats feel safe
