Help with my Kitten at bedtime, please!!!

Hi i'm hoping someone can help with my problem, I have a 12 week old Kitten named Buddy who i adore, he is a lovely little thing, but when it comes to bedtime sometimes he is good and sleeps in his cat bed but 3 to 4 nights a week as soon as me and my husband get in bed he is scratching and crying at the door to get in, The carpet is well on it's way to being ruined outside our bedroom door, last night he had me up till 1am, and i had to be up for 5am! Is there anyway i can train him to know that it's my bedtime and it's time for me to sleep, i know he probably only wants to curl up and sleep with us but on the occasions i have let him in the room, he thinks it's playtime! And is constantly jumping all over us, one night he pounched straight on my husbands face and gave him a nasty scratch on his chin, my husband was not amused, will Buddy grow out of this as he gets older?
Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

Try a bit sticky tape on the carpet in front of the door...this might prevent him from scratching there. I had the same problem and i had to give up and leave the bedroom door open lol

can i suggest you NOT let him in your room @ all, as he is getting mixed signals, one min he is aloud in the next he is not,
you should put him in his own bed and say goodnight to him turn of the lights them go to bed,
he will get the message eventually,

Yeh I agree, Alfie has been allowed in my room since day 1 so I've had to be consistent with that as it wouldn't be fair to lock him out.. I dont mind though because he just curls up on the end of my bed and goes to sleep

Try playing with him for a good hour before sleeping.

My cats sleep in the room/bed with me though as my doors are too pricey to risk :S
