A lady who is married with two children and who owns two cats from one of my queens litters has recently written to me just to let me know how her cats (out of my queen Suki) are getting on. They are two years old now. However, the male - who has been neutered long ago, when he was 6 months old - has started to do a bit of inappropriate weeing on their clothes, up against the patio windows and even (once) on their new sofa. He and his sister are together. He has been a clean boy until relatively recently. I believe the trigger for this change in his behaviour could be down to a new feline in the neighbourhood, who visits this family's garden. It could also be due to the fact that they have had a large piece of new furniture delivered. It could be a number of things but what can anyone suggest about how to solve this problem please?

The lady could try putting Tea tree oil were the boy has been spraying as cats don't like it I do know a lady who had this problem and she also used feliway plug in to calm things down

One of our girls started to pee against the sofa when a new cat arrived in the street and would sit outside the catflap. She stopped when we persuaded it not to sit outside our door anymore. Definately think change upsets them.

You could try a couple of Feliway diffusers to help calm things down and if poss try to discourage new kit from hanging around your house. May be worth getting the boy checked out at vets to rule out a UTI.

Yes-maybe she could try harmless disencouragement of this "outsider" as his behaviour to me suggests he feels threatenedWhen this other cat comes in the garden throw some water on him/her a couple of times and hopefully this will stop him from coming into your friends lads territory-i mean just like most men-he (your friends lad) does have his pride and as he is pipless and he can't go out and "romance" the intruders gals or drop paw him-he needs it too

These are all helpful and I shall pass this on to my kitten family. The lady has told me since that the lad started this soon after some large new settees were delivered to the house and after the catties (Storm and Sky) had been staying at a neighbour's house for a few days whilst the people were off on holiday so there have been rather a lot of big changes in the house too.

I think the trip to the vet is not strictly on the cards at the moment but will not rule out. I have suggested that she may consider it as a last possibility - she has not noticed him having any difficulty urinating, nor is there any discolouration but she is free to take him to vetty just to rule out urinary infection.

Suspect that visiting cattie is not helping so if she takes your suggestions Kelly and Lynsey, and discourages the visitor it may help.

I have also found from previous correspondence with others that Cat Attract is good for cats who wee in strange places. I have give the link to a website where this can be found. This litter has been proven by many others including breeders so it may be worth a shot.
