Unhappy Is my kitty senile?

I have a female gray tabby, she is 17 years old. This morning when I was getting ready for work, she urinated on the bathroom rug right next to me. My bed is ruined from her urinating on it, she defecates in the middle of the floor. She still uses the litter box occasionally, though. I have dry food 24/7 for her. I feed her soft, she eats 2 bites and starts bugging me like she is starving. It doesn't matter what brand. She occasionally vomits, especially when I change her soft food. Tonight, she was chasing around "nothing" like she was chasing a mouse. It was like she was hallucinating! She is more "clingy" to me than ever before! Could she be going senile? Can something be done? I don't want to have her put down, because she doesn't seem to be suffering!

Re: Is my kitty senile?

Have you taken her to the vet recently for a check up? May be worth just popping in with her.

I would suggest that you provide an extra litter tray say in your bedroom as she may not have time to find the other litter tray if it is downstairs or elsewhere. Sometimes elderly cats can lose their hearing and can be more vocal and "clingy".

I agree Kaz-pop her to the vets for a general check up-she's in her "autumn" yrs and i'm afraid it happens to the best of us-as we get older we lose certain thingsGood luck and do please let us know how she gets on

Could she have a UTI? I'm not an expert But a vet check sounds like a good idea!

Re: Is my kitty senile?

I would take her to the vets to be honest. Yes, she could have a urine infection or diabetes. Being an old lady it could be anything. Let us know how she goes
