My kitten is nearly a year old now but she still keeps her claws out when she plays! Any suggestions on what i should do to train her to keep her claws in!?

Re: Kitty Claws!!

i dont think u can train her that....my cats are 2 years old now and they use their claws too when they play. i would say its natural for them to use their claws . i had so many scratches now in the 2 years but they never scratched me on purpose just happend as an accident during the play

Re: Kitty Claws!!

She just didnt learnt to hide them. Try this: play with her but as soon as she start "clawing" you - take your hands away......Repeat it a lots - as in her age it will take time to understand. But normally earlier or later they do - as they very keen to play.

Re: Kitty Claws!!

You could learn how to clip the claws. I don't bother personally - only if i am showing a cat - but then again I'm used to being savaged, especially at bath time. It is quite easy once you know how, you could maybe get your vet to show you and teach you how the first time? Other than that, put on a brave face and try not to swear when you get got, lol

I trim Alfie with little nail clippers.. just be carefull not to get the nerve! it's pretty easy as you can see it in a good light, and do it when he's sleepy.

It doesn't stop him using his claws but it takes the sharpness off
