Question Jinxy's toileting

Hiya

I have been letting Jinxy outside into the back garden close to every day with his harness on for about 5-10 minutes (he is 4 months old), he is behind in his injections, he is due his second set of his first injections next wed.
He is brilliant with the litter tray normally, but today hubby was about to go out the back door (which is the door we go out with Jinxy) and there was poo just on the floor by the back door, some of it solid some a bit runny like (sorry).
We have givin him a variety of different litter for his toileting and he has managed to go ahead and do his business no problems, we have wood pellets in his litter tray at the moment, and he has had it before.
We have not changed his diet, he is on 'purely' meat and a small amount of dry in the morning and at night time, so nothing has changed there.

I had mentioned it to my mother inlaw, and she said with him being 4 months, he might be trying to spray, but did the toilet instead , or he is wanting to do his toileting outside.

Or could it be a tummy bug with the fact some was solid and some was runny? he is sleeping at the moment, but i will see how he is, if he does it again i think i will go to the vet, i would hate to think he has caught anything

Thanks if anyone can reply, sorry for it being a long post. He is our first cat, so i am just unsure of what it could be causing it.

edited...

He has been chewing at bits of grass when he has been out also. I know dogs sometimes do that if they have an upset tummy, is it the same for cats?

Just bumping it, in case anyone who knows might see it.

I have changed the litter back to catsan, he has not done anything in it yet.

Re: Jinxy's toileting

Update.
He has managed to do something in the litter tray. So i am happier now, i think it might just have been the pellets that he didn't like, hopefully he will be back to normal tomorrow with going to the litter tray.

Re: Jinxy's toileting

Sorry Elaine,

Only just catching up on threads.

Jinxy did his poo by the door...is he already used to pooing in the garden?
Maybe he was trying to get outside?

Anyway, I have often said I am no help in health or behavioural issues, so I hope somebody can come and advise you.

Hope you had a lovely day with Julie's birthday!

Keeley. xx

Re: Jinxy's toileting

It does sound like it was the wood pellets, some cats can be really picky when using "the loo"! lol

I would really try to stick with one brand .... hope everything is back to normal now

Hiya Keeley, is has never done a poo in the garden, but he does meow an awful lot to get out. It was funny yesterday as the kids were being little madams, then all started behaving then all we got from Jinxy was 'MEOW MEOW!!' looking at the outside door.
Thanks for your reply x

Hiya
I think i will need to stick with Catsan, he has been OK with change (like the brown stones, it is a cheaper brand) but i will stick with it, cause it must have made him anxious with not managing to go in the litter tray.
We never made any fuss or told him off or anything, my hubby cleaned it up, then he went back to that spot and sniffed about, and kept meowing. But he seems better today.

Thanks x

Re: Jinxy's toileting

Misty does not like the wood pellets. She to pooed on the floor, beside the litter tray. She has her own litter tray now.
