I have had my cat for over 5 years. Within that time he has had only two toys that he would play with. Those toys are now lost. For over a year now, I have been buying any toy I can find but he hasn't played with a single one!
He will chase string a little bit, but will not bother with a laser LOL. Any suggestions? |

Re: wont play
Da Bird is a favouite here.
Have you tried using treat balls - put some of his dry food in it and he then has to work a bit to get his food. I found this one very good Armitages Fun Good Girl Cat Treat Ball Play Toy: Amazon.co.uk: Kitchen & Home: Armitages - you can start with the hole bigger, and make it smaller as he gets more skilled. My vet was really impressed at Henry's dribbling with this ball!! By reducing the food in his bowl and getting him to hunt/search/interact to get it, it may make him more willing to play (even putting food in an empty loo roll for him to find and get may be a good start). |

Re: wont play
Hi and welcome to the forum
![]() My Frankie is 7 years old, we adopted him 3 years ago. He has never played, I put this down to his previous life, he may have been taken away from his mum and litter mates too early and never been socialised He has lots of different toys, I have spent time with him with toys everyday since we've had him and would end up playing on my own ![]() This all changed when we adopted Sebastian in October of last year, Seb and Frank got on well from the start and they play together, I feel Seb has taught Frank how to play and to enjoy himself I have been woken up in the middle of the night to the sounds of Frank playing with toys downstairs, this makes me happy Seb uses his scratching post all the time and over the last 2 days, Frank has been using it too and playing with the ball that's attached to it ![]() I have found that strong catnip toys work well too ![]() |
