Emin problems again! :(

Hello guys, I dont know if any of you remember. I posted a while ago saying my little kitten was crying alot and very needy. We decided to try our best to find another kitten.

Today we found one and we got her, Silver tabby called Sasha (for a tiger that died at colchester zoo).

When the owners brought her round, They let the silver tabby out when i was in the kitchen, And Emin our 5 month old kitten was very nervous. And it got worse,

The silver tabby will NOT let me hold her touch her or anything, and they finally fell asleep. Apperently my girlfriend said to me earlier that the older cat fell asleep opposite the smaller one and suddenly pounced on her and bite her.

I have now asked my girlfriend to divide them through the rooms and she has, But in the morning can i supervise them being together?

Thank you you lovely people =]

Re: Emin problems again! :(

I have only once tried to introduce two cats and I failed miserably ,but that was in the days before I found Pet Forum.Have a read of this link,it will explain the best way to introduce a new kitten/cat.slow introductions will, actually be more successful than trying to speed it up.Good luck.

Brilliant Buffie, Thank you .

I hope its not to like.. Only day 1 but they ignored each other at first which is meant to be good. Well Emin was watching her quite heavily. And following her, Which i dont think is bad. I think the smaller kitten started a fight with emin first. Im gna put sasha in a smaller room. And do it day by day.

Thank you

Re: Emin problems again! :(

Progress. Day 1 (kitten was got last night at 4pm).

The two kittens did not seem to keen on each other, but managed to kinda feed them at the same time without being to much of a problem. Emin was behind a sofa and was very curious around the other kitten.

The newest kitten keeps hissing at emin, And emin kept trying to be friends, Sniffing and going up to the nose. They did at one point. They touched nose. Then the new one hissed and they ran away.

The newest kitten is new so maybe shes just fitting in. Emin (oldest kitten 5 months) Tried to paw slap the new kitten. Didnt know if this was to show shes the eldest and its her territory too. but i stopped it.

Any advice asap wud be brilliant. At the moment the smallest kitten is in the livingroom were i am, Emin is in the corridor and crying to come inside the living room. ?? So progress with emin

Re: Emin problems again! :(

Ive got some photos, i think i know how to upload them. Hope this is right lol.

This is what there like right now. Also the bigger kitten runs towards the little one trying to be friends and the smaller one hisses. Also Bigger one tries to roll over n stuff to play and the little one doesnt want to. (this is only day 1.) For emin i think this is progress though.

Re: Emin problems again! :(

Hopefully some one who has had successful intro's will be along soon. I think ,as the link says it is best to put the new arrival in a "safe" room with her food/water and litter tray. Let her settle and get used to you and no contact with your other kitten. Then you need to follow as best you can the advice of scent swapping ect.Your new kitten needs to feel happy and relaxed before you start any intro's.

ETA New kitten does look quite relaxed but I would still take it slowly as it can backfire if you try to do it too quickly

Re: Emin problems again! :(

Buffie, Your a champ.

She does seem getting settled. Shes still wondering about. Thing is its damn hard to have a safe room. I got home from work n would love to watch the tele. but Emin screams and crys outside the door. im waiting for my partner to come home at 1 so hopefully she can play with emin as i can play with the new one.

And yeah maybe give it a few days, There weary of each other but emin seems to wana contact. Also got a litter tray, Food and water in the livingroom for her.

Thanks for the reply
