Cat crying at door

Hi all, our kitten Izzy has just recently (2 days) started going to our front door and meowing almost crying. We don't want to let her out as we want to keep her as an indoor cat and we also feel its to dangourse outside as there's a main road not far from our house.
She has tonnes of toys to keep her occupied and when she starts meowing we go and try and get her attention with one of the toys which works for a bit and then you sit down and she goes back to meowing at the door.

I was just wondering if anybody had any advice on what else we could do. We just want her to be happy and it breaks our hearts hearing her meowing like she's in pain at the door.
Thanks Hoppy.

Does she have a playmate or is she your only kitten? How long have you had her, and how old is she? If she went outdoors before you got her, it may be hard to keep her in. If she's never been out though, she can't really miss what she's never had. My 2 are thankfully content to watch birds through the window for now

How old is she? Is she spayed? She may be calling (in heat)

Re: Cat crying at door

Sorry it's taken ages to get back to you I've been really busy.
Izzy is 17 weeks old today infact and she our only cat we did consider getting another kitten around the same age for her to play with but we give her loads of attention and I sort of don't want to rock the boat I.e make her jealous by having another cat and giving it attention. (I'm proberbly wrong about that but it's too late once I've brought another kitten home)

She is an indoor only cat and has never been outside. We spoke to the vet the other day about getting her Spayed as we wanted to know what was the best time so she's off for a visit next week to get a once over by the vet as we want to get her spayed, chipped and innoculations all at same time. The vet said this was a good idea but she would at £150 for the package..lol

Sometimes she does just sit in her basket and watch the world go by on the windowsill or attacking the football on the telly. The wife is trying to convince me into getting one of those cat harnesses so we can take her out but I'm not really going for it. IMO I'm not sure she would like being restricted after all she's not a dog and I've never seen a cat on a leash before.

Maybe she will start to chill out more once the vets done her magic ..lol

Thanks again for the comments. Hoppy.
