Kitty Problem Again!!

Hey guys i sent a forum post the other day on here about needing help with a kitten taken to early from her family (please read if you can )..

Basically she has just started calming down, Tredding her paws on everything.. And i had a email.. Somone trying to give there kitty away for free to a loving home. She is a tabby cat.

Im worried now, would my kitten Emin. Be out of place with another female?

Im worried because i dont want emin to feel shes out of place shes the first kitten here and should stay as the first kitten here, she lays on my lap n all sorts, would that go away?

Re: Kitty Problem Again!!

You just can't tell - some cats are fine and some aren't. You have to go with your gut feeling on this one - you know her. Mine are used to sharing and each has their own favourite place etc and I don't worry about bringing in another cat/ kitten. Emin is on her own now and would maybe flourish with another cat. How old is she now? Normally the younger they are the better they adapt and she may learn from the older cat. How old is it?

Re: Kitty Problem Again!!

Emin is 4 months old. And the other kitty is 9 weeks old.

Im only worried cos i love the way emin is now, (greedy i know.. She only goes to me lol ).. She sleeps on my bed etc. Would hate for emin to feel displaced.

Thanks for replying

Re: Kitty Problem Again!!

i have literally just posted pics of my little cherubs playing together - they are 15 weeks and about 6-7 weeks. they are so cute - took ME a couple of weeks to let them loose together properly, without freaking out that Freddy would eat Tilly - and now i just enjoy watching them rough and tumble

do what you feel is best by you and the cats, you won't go far wrong

Re: Kitty Problem Again!!

I think Emin is young enough to accept another kitten without too many problems
As far sitting on your lap - I have two rather large Siamese girls on mine most of the time - they don't mind sharing me

Re: Kitty Problem Again!!

I still would do introductions slowly and not just leave them together from the start.
They might squabble over who's in charge but they usually settle down quite quickly.

Re: Kitty Problem Again!!

Tilly was only 5 weeks (long story!), so i got a cage from the vets to keep her 'in the room', but so Freddy couldn't get a real hold of her. i gradually let her all around the house, so their scents mixed, and then over the last week fed them together and let them spend a bit of time together under my supervision - it's scary to see at first when they 'play', as it's hard to believe that's all it is, but i think if i can do it, you can

i'm now at the stage where i let them out together when i'm home, but separate when i go out and at bedtime. hope this helps
