Quick Advice needed - cat growling at newly spayed cat
Hi,
My younger cat was spayed yesterday and is doing really well as far as her recovery. If I'm not around she will stay in our spare room but for the moment while I'm at home I'm letting her walk around. My older male cat went into hiding yesterday ever since the doorbell went in the afternoon. He's just come out from under the bed and encountered the spayed cat in the hallway. Now she is wearing a buster collar so don't know if that's what caused his behaviour but he's now growling at her, fluffing up his tail and generally acting like a big old weirdo. I would say that she might still smell like the vets but he's not bee close enough her to smell her. Can you give me some advice on how to get them friendly again (the were absolutely fine together before) and why he's acting like this? |

Re: Quick Advice needed - cat growling at newly spayed cat
Cats have a fantastic sense of smell - even though you think she doesn't smell of the vets he can smell she does. Try scent swapping (rubbing a cloth on her and then on him and visa versa) and invest in a Feliway or Pet remedy diffuser to ease the tension. Relationships should thaw eventually.
