Hi All,

We are first time cat owners, we let our kitten our during the day and when it gets to about 7.00 he stays in.

We have had this routine with him all over Christmas and he has continued to use his litter try, but over the past couple of days he seems to have stopped.

I am concerned for two reasons:-

1 - I don't want him 'going' in our flower beds; and
2 - I thought that as he had always used his litter tray that he would continue to do this even though he was outside.

Could someone please advise me?

Nearly all cats, given the opportunity would prefer to "go" outside. Most cats that are allowed out eventually give up their litter box and is what most owners aim for with an outdoor cat.

Thanks for your reply Rose - our concern is that Lionel (the cat) will not always be outside as we are at work and our son is leaving to go into the army - we will not be getting a cat flap - so he will only be able to go outside when our other children come home from school.

Do you think this will be a problem?
