MrsKU is on a distinguished road
Please help- kitten weeing on my bed!!!

Me and my husband have a kitten- Rosie, she is a Russian Blue cross. we got her when she was 8 weeks old and now she is 16 weeks old (4month).
the first night we brough her home she slept with ur on the bed and we had a wee on the bed then too, couse she was too little to jump on and off the bed. after that we tried to have her littler tray close to the bed so she could access it more easily. however the issue persisted. so then we stareted to have her sleep in the livingroom in the night where her litter tray and her bed were set up, so she would learn where the toiler is and isnt.
and it all went well for a while where she used her loo ok. However every morning as soon as we open the doors and bedroom is open, she would run in and have a wee on the bed. we tried sticking her nose in it to teach her but it didnt help at all. sometimes if the bedroom door is open in the evening she can run in and wee there as well, although she clearly knows where her loo is. couse if the bedroom is closed she goes to her littler tray as normal. so its either our bed or her littler tray. just to metion as well, its only weeeing thats the problem. she only pooped on the bed once or twice ever.
i bought spays to use on douvets to get rid of the wee smell as that might be somth that attacks her to it. but it didnt work, duvets were clean and she still wees on it. Over Chistmas we stayed at my husbands parents house and we she wee'd on the bed there too. so think it might be somth phycological with her. but its very difficult to deal with- as of course its terrible if she wees on the bed all the time during the night and i wash bedding day after day. but if she is in the livingroom she maews and cries. andf i feel terrible leaving her alone becouse she is still young so i let her to the bedroom on the bed, and the cycle happens again. we and my husband work full time and she is a house cat, so maybe she misss us when we are away and wants to assert herself that way. but i have no idea how to deal with it and how to make her stop weeing on the bed. please advice.
I got Feliway online yeasterday so should be coming in the post sometime soon, maybe that would help.

Re: Please help- kitten weeing on my bed!!!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

Obviously the easiest course of action would be to keep out her of the bedroom all the time. Unfortunately rubbing her nose into it initially has probably exacerbated the situation. You should never ever do that with a cat!! This has probably contributed to her persisting in going there as she now associates the duvet with the smell of her wee so to speak.

Would suggest washing any soiled bedding in bio washing powder - or if feasible buy a new duvet altogether! She is only a baby but it may be an idea to try her with a second litter tray, with a different kind of litter and if your present one is covered make the second an open tray or vice versa. Try different litter - if you are using non clumping - try a clumping and something that is quite soft.

If she continues with this it may be an idea to have a quick check up with the vet to ensure she hasn't got a water infection - just to be on the safeside.

Good luck - keep us posted.
