Citrus

Several people have mentioned cats don't like citrus. Can someone be a little more specific for me.

I shut Cookie out of my bedroom at night, she has the run of a bedroom the landing and the kitchen. But she scratches at the bedroom door and eventually I end up letting her in about 3 or 4am. However yesterday instead of messing about for a bit and then settling down her play got quite rough and was treating my arm like her kikkeroo, so I put her out of the room.

Last night I put her cat carrier in front of the door, but she moved it out of the way. This was again just after 3am, sat on my chest for a few minutes then again got a little rough, so out of the room again.

Any suggestions please, it would be nice if she slept in my room. My only concern with this is when it gets warm in summer I would want the windows open

Re: Citrus

Cats just don't like the smell of anything citrus related. I leave pieces or orange/clementine/tangerine/whatever peel on the spots where my lot regularly carpet scratch and it works up to a point, tho' they just pick another place.

There are various citrus sprays you can buy, the one I have (Kleeneze > No More Scratch, iirc) was expensive and not very effective. It's cheap and easy enough to do your own really.
