Bengal gone soft!

Hi all

My 2 year old neutered male Bengal has never been a lap cat, in fact he used to spend most of his time asleep upstairs on the bed. He's not shy or anti social as he loves his strokes and fuss but only for a short time then he'd have enough.

Since I got my 2 male kittens 3 months ago he is a different cat. He doesn't hide upstairs any more and wants to be where everyone is and not on his own any more. He still wasn't anything like a lap cat but a lot more visible! BUT in the last couple of weeks, three or four times he's jumped on my lap and cuddled for a short time. My parents came to visit (they don't live locally so only visit about once a year) and he cuddled up on my mum! And today, the babies are at the vets being neutered (I'm worrying, hoping they're ok) he's been curled up on my lap all morning and won't leave me alone! Is it because he's missing them? Is he making the most of the peace and quiet? Is he making the most of it being just him and me there? He's never cuddled for this long, even before I had the kittens.

Also, can cats sense when you're upset? I've been having a tough time at work lately, and a couple of times I've come home upset. All 3 have come up to me, giving me kisses and nuzzled my face. Is this just coincidence or did they know something was wrong?

Off to phone the vets now to check the babies are ok!

Thanks

Debbie

Re: Bengal gone soft!

Sounds like having the youngsters round has improved his cat social skills.
I really do believe they can tell when we are upset....I recently lost my dear Paddy and had a disturbed night waking up crying and being upset. All of my remaining cats took it in turns to come and snuggle up to me and offer comfort. Milo, who at 15 months had been going through a standoffish teenage phase, came and put his paws on my chest so he could lick my tears dry.
welshjet and Treaclesmum like this.

Yes, my little Treacle comes up to me when I'm upset and starts playing with me, gently playing with my feet!!

Aw that is so sweet. It's just so heartwarming when they do things like that. I'm sorry for your loss of Paddy, it must be terrible for you. But it sounds like you're being well looked after I'm sure they can tell, its happened a couple of times with my lot
