Clemantines are the answer

Hi,

Just thought I'd post this for people who have problems with their cats jumping on worksurfaces or going to the toilet in places they shouldn't.

I read on here ages ago that citrus smelling products are good. However, using anti-bacterial citrus wipes on worksurfaces etc. didn't make a blind bit of difference.

The other day I was eating a clemantine and Hermione came near, took one smell of the peel and vrooom, off she ran as fast as she could!! It might be worth putting some peel down in places (or rubbing it over) to deter your cats/kittens - it will smell nice and hopefully is a non-chemical way of keeping them off your kitchen tables.

I've eaten oranges and satsumas and Hunter/Hermione don't bat an eyelid, for some reason they hate the Clemantine smell more.

Just a thought - hope it helps some of you.

Re: Clemantines are the answer

I've been doing similar for a while now but any visitors (tho' they're few and far between thankfully) must think I've gone mad as there's bits of orange, etc, peel scattered all round the house to stop my lot carpet scratching.

Re: Clemantines are the answer

Considering my own daily consumption of citrus mine must hate me at this stage!!

No, definitely a good deterrent.

Ooh thanks for the advice will try that to stop Snoopy weeing where she shouldn't and to hopefully help stop Poppy from scratching my settees.

I've been using lemon juice everywhere but doesn't stop them.

Millie is immune to Citrus, as she is to most things I have to say. Sigh
She practically got IN the juicer when I was doing grapefruits and oranges the other day.
I have one shelf that I am trying desperately to keep cat free as I put my glass ware there in the kitchen. I have come home to find her asleep on the tin foil placed there and also sitting prettily on the double sided sticky tape.
