Is my cat depressed?
I have two raggies but now my youngest daughter has left home to go to residential college I seem to have a problem with the 18 month old. He loves my daughter and follows her around all weekend on the odd time she comes home. He won't leave her alone. He is like a little puppy, she is the one who has trained him to do tricks etc. But when she leaves on Sunday evenings he will sit all grumpy for around three days, he knows she has gone and I feel so sad for him. Any ideas what I can do, he sees more of my other daughter but she will be going into the Navy soon so he won't see much of her either.

Re: Is my cat depressed?
Hi he has full run of the house but does not seem to go in her room when she is not there. After about three days he seems fine again. Its just that he is so miserable at the time and its really sad to see him like this. BTW I will contact you tomorrow with my mobile number re fostering.

Re: Is my cat depressed?
I think your cat needs time to adjust to the loss of your daughter's company, and it may take quite a while.....
Can he be encouraged (by giving him lots of attention, cuddles, playing with him etc) to transfer his allegiance to someone else in the household who is going to be around much more, such as you? At 18 mths he is a young cat, an adolescent, so he will be quite adaptable still. |
