Re: Using a litter tray, or not as the case may be

What about either moving the tray over the target area or popping another tray there? x

maybe it's just her being finicky and wanting it differently or wanting more variety? x

Re: Using a litter tray, or not as the case may be

Hi,

I clean my litter trays out completely every 1 or 2 days. I do have 4 cats that use the trays but non the less i think once they have used it to take a tinkle the smell is there, especially if it is a tom cat and even if we cannot smell it you can bet your cat does.

If it is a covered tray i find my cats have to have it cleaned regular as the smell collects inside and they simply refuse to go in.

For the carpet i would use an enzyme solution avaliable from pets at home that will break down the parts of her urine that are attracting her to repeatedly urinate on the carpet.

Hope you sort it soon!!

Re: Using a litter tray, or not as the case may be

Thanks again for the info.

I can't move the tray there as it would be right in front of the door, meaning each time we leave the house the tray would be pushed aside. I did contemplate taping the tray to the door so that when the door is closed after us the tray will remain in front of the door, but I'd rather try other things first.

Its a similar issue with her food bowls, even if I were to put them in front of the door they would still be close to another litter tray that she occasionally uses. I could, however, attempt to give her treats close to the door and see if this deters her.

I'll get something for the carpet, I'm sure this will help.

Thanks everyone.

is there any reason why you have to have trays near doors

We originally had trays in other areas, but she chose to ignore the trays and seemed to prefer going in front of the back door so we put a tray there, she wouldn't go anywhere else. After a while she also 'investigated' around the front door, so a tray was placed in this area too.
