Ragdoll kitten wants out!
Hi. Our 17 week old ragdoll kitten makes a dive for the front door every time it's opened. It started a couple of weeks ago when he followed me outside and now he is desperate to get outside at any opportunity. He appears from nowhere when the front door is opened and is so fast it's hard to catch him. He dives straight under the car and it is taking me about 20 mins to get him out. I nearly had heart failure last time as I watched helplessly while he dived out from under car and across the road in pursuit of leaves being blown by the wind. I have a little boy and baby and can't leave them indoor alone for ages while I try to entice Milo back inside but I'm scared if I leave him he'll wander off and be knocked down or not come back. He has loads of indoor toys and gets lots of attention. His favourite place to sit is in the conservatory where he looks out the window but he's not so desperate to get out into the back garden where he would be easier to catch! An outside enclosure or securing the garden is not an option for us. Any ideas how I can stop him doing this (other than always keeping the doors to the room he's in closed which is not possible with 2 wee ones in the house!!) Will he grow out of this??He is a pretty manic kitten!

Re: Ragdoll kitten wants out!
An easy solution is to have a room set up for when you leave the house.Just pop him in there with the door closed then leave the house safely
It won't do him any harm at all to be confined to one room for a few hours a day. Provided he has toys, litter tray and food in there he will be fine Much better than risking him running away.

Re: Ragdoll kitten wants out!
Yep, we do this - a safety door system - check where the cats are BEFORE opening any outside doors.
