Unhappy A "wee" problem

Hi there! My kitten, Freesia, is 14 weeks old and she has been urinating and leaving here faeces behind my computer desk. Despite cleaning it up, she still goes back there....

I also have another kitten in the house, i got them within a week of each other.

Both were using the same litter tray, but I now have 2 litter trays to see if that helps but both have been using the two of them.

I am at my wits end... Is there a product that deters them from leaving their poo and wee in hiding places (smell is terrible!!) and what could be causing Freesia to do this?

Any suggestions would be most welcome

Re: A "wee" problem

Hi, you may need to get another tray, I'm not sure but I think the general rule is 2 per cat.

How are you cleaning the wee? as she may be able to smell her scent so she is repeating the action in that place.

Good luck, and I'm sure others will be along soon with better advice.

It's hard to say what's causing this-there is a product you can buy to completely get rid of the smell and stop them going in the same place. It's called Simple Solution.Pets at Home sell it. Simple Solution Stain and Odour Remover by Pets at Home | Pets at Home You might be able to find it cheaper online.

Re: A "wee" problem

I have had a similar problem recently - one of mine was weeing by the front door. I bought a covered tray and put it by the front door and have been moving it further away every day. So far its been successful. I've also thoroughly cleaned the area with Urine Off (similar product to Simple Solutions). The problem is once a cat has poo'd/wee'd in a certain place they are attracted back to it by the smell, so removing the smell is half the battle. Perhaps put a "puppy pad" on the cleaned area to catch any possible future accidents. Don't shout at her or make a big deal about it. Make sure the litter tray is scrupulously clean, scoop as often as physically possible and make sure there is enough litter in the trays to start off with - don't be stingy. Some cats like to have a good dig about in it. I know its expensive but try a Feliway diffuser - it works for us. It has calmed all four cats down. There has been a lot of tension, mainly caused by my 8 month 'kitten'. The status-quo has been disrupted since he came in June and there has been a lot of punch-ups and hissy fits but the Feliway has really helped. Hope you managed to get your problem sorted Cats - doncha just luv 'em!
