Help! Hissing moggy
Hello, please read my story.
I have a 10yr Maine Coon, Basil (Big and fluffy, very good nature), as he is a house cat and i work I got a kitten for company, Seven, named because she is the seventh cat I've owned (small, the runt of the litter I think). Both are house cats. Basil hissed for a while, Seven hiding from him but after a week they were fine.
1 year later and they are loving each other, playing, licking and sleeping together.
2 years later Basil was on the sofa, Seven smelled her from behind and hissed, Basil went for her like a shot, fur flying everywhere. 6 months down the line and Seven is not the same, hissing at Basil and myself. She has taken to hidng under the sofa most of the of the time. The thing is she is still very affectionate toward Basil and myself the other 50% of the time crazy. She can be fine for 3 days and very skitish for 3days, the slightest thing can set her off and she is hiding under the sofa coming out only to hiss and go back. She can be under the sofa hissing on minute, the next coming out for some loving, then Basil comes in and she is back under the sofa, similarly I can have the same affect on her (scared of me). I trod on her paw once and she just lost it, I had to lock her in the spare room for 3 day untill she calmed down, you should of heard the noise she made when I went near her. Luckly Basil is such a placid cat her just looks at her as if to say "whats your prob" but sometimes he does go for her, and she for him.
I Really don't know what to do? I have ordered some Feliway but don't have much faith as I have tried it before. Do I medicate her? Do I rehome her? this would break my heart. She has licked a bald patch on her chest due to stress and I know Basil is getting stressed and more skitish, which is not good as he is getting old.
