Introducing a new cat in the family

Hi
I would really like to adopt another cat. I already have 2 ginger moggy brothers who are 13 years old. They are very close and hardly ever spend anytime apart. I am worried that trying to introduce another cat will be traumatic for them and that the new cat will not be welcomed. Any advice would be gratefully received or am I being totally unrealistic?

Re: Introducing a new cat in the family

depends really - how are they with neighbourhood cats? make friends easily or avoid?

and...if they dont accept newcomer, is your house big enough for them to avoid each other?

Re: Introducing a new cat in the family

Thanks for your reply. House isn't big enough to keep them separate at night although my current cats spend most of the night outside. Our house was brand new when we bought it and our cats were the first on the block! They have tolerated some cats but others they have definitely not got on with.Once they have shown any new cats who is the boss they seem okay.
