Unhappy Kitten Potty Trouble

Ok Im experienced in raising kittens from a young age but this is baffling and its driving me crazy.
I have a kitten who's about 8-9 weeks old. I've had her for about 3 weeks and in the beginning she had lots of diarrhea but i fixed that with a simple food change.
Not long after that though she started peeing on my bed.
At first i thought its cuz she felt trapped when she woke up so i slept right next to the wall and put the litter box right next to the bed but a couple nights later she peed again. I never catch her doing it cuz im usually asleep so i cant punish her. My mother suggested i put her in the bathroom at night so i did that for about a week and a half and did a test run. She didnt pee in the bed for another few nights but alas she eventually ended up doing it again.
So ive been keeping her in the bathroom at night and not letting her out until about an hour after she starts crying. But this morning she did it AGAIN!!! im close to my wits end and am very tired of having to wash my sheets every morning.
I realize shes young but she does kno where the litter box is and uses it throughout the entire day. I dont have a job right now so im spending practically every min of everyday with her. We have another kitten that she plays with but that one never does it and its younger than mine. I dont kno what else to do. Please help!!!

Re: Kitten Potty Trouble

Lordy those kittens are very very young to be away form the mum - you got this one at 5 weeks old! This is the age that mum is teaching them all about litter training etc (between 4 weeks and 12 weeks is an incredibly important time for socialisation and learning manners and that's what mum teaches them), and your second kitten is what, 6 weeks ish?

When kittens of this young age sleep they sleep very deeply and so when they wake up needing to go they need to go NOW! Hence the first mistakes, now it is becoming a) a habit, and b) are you washing your bedding in an appropriate solution - normal washing powder will not get out the trace smells that the kitten can smell and you can't and so the kitten is attracted back to the same spot cos it smell right. Yo need to use simple solution or the such like specially designed to get out cat smells.

Imagine potty training a child - you start anywhere between 2 years and 4 years and some take to it immediately and some take ages - and that isn't dependent on the age they start. And when they need to go they want to go NOW. Same for a kitten, if it is asleep, or playing, or just busy and occupied it will get caught short. I would confine both the kitten to the bathroom or kitchen overnight for a good few weeks if not months until you are sure they are reliable. And please don't punish your kitten for doing this - it can't help it - that would be like smacking a 2 year old for trying!
