Litter tray

Hi all
this is not so much as a problem but I am surprised by what happened this morning. I opened my back door this morning to let Puss Puss in (outdoor cat)to eat. She and my Shadow get on well. So they both had their food with no problems again I then combed her down, she then wandered over to Shadows litter tray and sat in it, she stayed for a few mins. then Shadow went to the tray and also went inside and had a pee then came out, all this time Puss Puss was still inside the litter tray. I took the top off to get her out only to find she had a pee also, that is the first time. After she came out we played and then she went back outside again when she wanted to. I am surprised that Shadow didn`t mind. What I really like to know is why she should want to stay in the litter tray?
