sisters fight!!!

I got two sister who are a 1year and 3months old. They are siameseXbengals and are lovely cats.

Wednesday i took them both down to the vets for the booster. They went in the same cat carrier and were fine.

On the way back we stop at my mums house. My mum got a male siamses cat who has never met my two cats.

As soon as we went in my house the smaller one off my cats started swearing and spitting at her sister!! As soon as we took the lid of the carrier she ran away and hid in a bedroom swearing at anything that move pass the door!!!

when we got back home she was still swearing and moaning at her sister and us lucky we put another cat carrier in the car soon we could get home!!
Two days on she is still swearing and spitting at her sister and giving her bunches of fives across her head sometimes with claws out!!!

Her sister not even aloud to sleep on the same bed be in the same room as her!!
The bigger cat had a different flea treatment as she was allergic to the one she was on!!

So today I did the same flea treatment on the smaller one incase it was the smell, but shes still the same!!!

just want them to be friends again.

Re: sisters fight!!!

Unfortunately you will sometimes get sibbling rivalry, we had 2 sisters many years ago and after a few months something happened and they never were friends afterthat.

Re: sisters fight!!!

just spoken to the vet and they said to use Feliway. Or use a towel and rub it on both cats so they get the smell of each other again.

A friend just said about using cat nip or rubbing baby powder on both off them.

Re: sisters fight!!!

you probably scared the living daylights out of them by taking them into your mum's house and getting them to meet her cat. Cat's aren't dogs and don't do introductions over a short period of 5 mins - they often need weeks to get used to each other.

Feliway should help. But you will just have to give it time now.

They never met on the day that i took them to the vets either!!!

When we went around my mums house my mum cat was already out and about doing his daily visits.

well that's good - but you still let them out into a strange territory and they got frightened - you said so yourself. They smelt strange cat and took fright.

(on a pedantic note as an English teacher - it's would have not would of, contraction would've - )

Re: sisters fight!!!

Its probably a bit late to reply to this post now, but my two cats are sisters and initially they got on great, played together, cleaned each other, slept together etc.

One of my cats went missing for a couple of days when they were about 18 months old (she was in a neighbours garage) and when she came back my other cat absolutely hated her and now 5 1/2 years later they still don't get on. They will tolerate each other but whilst the returning cat is very submissive my other cat can be quite aggressive with her, that is until it comes to food and then the submissive cat gets what she wants every time, very strange.

I really hope your two find a way to live together again like my two have, albeit never in the same room

Re: sisters fight!!!

I am so pleased for you, I really love it when cats do get along, when I lived at home we had three ginger toms and it was like a real love fest those three were like little peas in a pod and I used to love just watching them all curled up together in one basket, really sweet.

Happy days
