Unhappy Hyper Kitten

Hi everyone, I hope there is someone who can give me some help and advice. Our kitten is 18 weeks old and we love him to bits, we have had no problem with him settling in and he took to his littter tray straight away, my problem is that he is constantly grabbing my legs, ankles, arms and hands, he sinks in his teeth and claws (OUCH) it gets worse during the evening when he jumps and runs around everwhere. We have tried tapping him which is what his Mum would do and saying no, we have tried spraying him with water, no effect, he loves water. He has been neutered and I had hoped that might calm him down. I have even checked the ingredients on his food to check for E-numbers. Please help! It's a good job he's cute.

Re: Hyper Kitten

I think most kittens go through this sort of phase and he will grow out of it. Mine used to think it was great fun to pounce on my grandchildren who were not so keen on the idea!
Now it's all I can do to get him to move from his favourite sleeping places!

Re: Hyper Kitten

It's normal. Get some fishing rod toys so that he can wear himself out at a safe distance and you don't get him used to practising hunting and killing on you.

Re: Hyper Kitten

It is normal and you need to be the one to put him in his place, the same as mum or a littermate would if he was getting too carried away.

Put him away from you when he is doing it and ignore him - he will soon get the idea that he doesn't get any attention from it!
