Arrrrgh Help!

Hello everyone, I am new to this as I have just got my first 2 kittens. Dopey is of mixed breed and is 10 weeks old. Daisy is a blue british short haired and is also 10 weeks old. We had Dopey for quite a few weeks before we got Daisy and now we have introduced them but Dopey is attacking Daisy. He is pinning her down and biting her and pouncing on her at every chance. Does anyone know how to stop this and help them play together?? Both of them or gorgeous kittens and we love them very much but I am so worried they are going to come to some harm....please help me!!

Re: Arrrrgh Help!

they are playing! get out some chasey toys like da bird or fluffy things on a string and stick and get them to chase them together give them both treats and praise but on separate sides of you pet the head of one and then rub the other one's head with the same hand to move the scents. you can also make sure they have their own food areas and their own litter box to keep the peace. Feliway is another product that helps with multi cat house holds. but i don't think you have anything to worry about from what you have said it sounds like they are just playing and setting their boundaries.

Re: Arrrrgh Help!

How long have the cats been together? Even if the cats are young there will probably be territorial issues. When my cats first got together I separated them and gradually introduced them. HOWEVER when I had Ava spayed and brought her home, they didn't get along for months probably because Ava smelled so different and I didn't think to re-introduce them properly again. From May until August they were not on great terms. Now they sleep in a pile, together again. It's going to take time, especially if their first encounter wasn't good but all is not lost. They may never be best friends but they may tolerate each other eventually.

Have you read the book, "Cat Vs. Cat" by Pam Johnson-Bennett? Completely addresses these issues.

Try here:Amazon.com: Cat Vs. Cat: Keeping Peace When You Have More Than One Cat: Pam Johnson-Bennett: Books

Or here:Amazon.co.uk: Cat Vs. Cat: Keeping Peace When You Have More Than One Cat: Pam Johnson-Bennett: Books

Edited to add:

Also ErbslinTrouble may be completely right. They may just be playing and setting up dominance which is completely natural but if you feel they are getting too aggressive, just distract them. Shake a jar of coins, or put something in between their sight line. If they look they are going to actually fight distract them with toys. Try to make every experience a positive experience and they will just associate each other with fun. I don't completely know the situation, so I really can't say. Just keep an eye out and I would still recommend the book.
